BECOME A MEMBER OF THE TALON CREW
VAIL VALLEY FOUNDATION SEEKING COURSE VOLUNTEERS
FOR 2007 CHARLES SCHWAB BIRDS OF PREY WORLD CUP

    BEAVER CREEK, Colorado
—Looking for a way to get up close and personal with the upcoming Charles Schwab Birds of Prey World Cup races in Beaver Creek?  Then why not become a member of the Talon Crew?

The Vail Valley Foundation is currently seeking course volunteers for the November 29 through December 2 men’s races, consisting of World Cup Super CombinedDownhillSuper-G and Giant Slalom.

“The Talon Crew has become one of the elite course preparation and maintenance groups in the world,” explained Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation.  “Many of them have volunteered for other major international events, including Olympics and World Championships, while other race organizers have sent their crews to learn from the Talon Crew.  This year’s races will mark the second year that a group from Whistler has come down to help on the course in preparation for the 2010 Olympics.”

Talon Crew volunteers need to have solid skiing skills and the ability to work on the course a total of four days between November 23 and December 3.  New Talon Crew members must be able to work two days prior to the start of the races on November 29.

In addition to a ringside seat for Birds of Prey, Talon Crew members will receive the official event parka, a credential with ski access, volunteer party invitations and other related perks.

“One of the true strengths of all of our events,” concluded Folz, “is the tremendous support we receive from our volunteers.  Needless to say, without the Talon Crew and all their work to prepare and maintain the Birds of Prey course, we would not have an annual World Cup here in the Vail Valley.”

To inquire about becoming a Talon Crew volunteer, contact Jamie Corder at either 748-5997 or jcorder@vvf.org. A volunteer application is also available online.

The Charles Schwab Birds of Prey World Cup Race Week is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.  For additional information on Birds of Prey or the Foundation, contact (970) 949-1999 or visit www.vvf.org.
