CARVE YOUR OWN WORLD CUP TURNS
WITH SPECIAL BIRDS OF PREY EDITION OF
THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS DECEMBER 4
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado—Now that you’ve finished slicing the Thanksgiving turkey, plan on carving up the snow at Beaver Creek Thursday evening, December 4, as Beaver Creek Resort hosts a special edition of the popular public ski down Thursday Night Lights to help welcome the world to Beaver Creek.
Scheduled for 5:30 p.m., participants will need to be intermediate to advance skiers and register at the Beaver Creek Ski School Desk prior to the ski down. The Ski School Desk will open at 5 p.m. for registration and no lift ticket is required to participate.
“Thursday Night Lights is a great family activity throughout the winter,” explained Michael Imhof, Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Vail Valley Foundation, “and we are pleased that Beaver Creek has agreed to this special Birds of Prey edition to help us welcome the World Cup to Beaver Creek.”
In addition to the ski down, the evening will also include free hot chocolate and cookies, music courtesy of the U.S. Air Force Drum & Bugle Corps, an autograph session with the U.S. Ski Team and the precision skiing of the Beaver Creek Demo Team. Top this off with the presentation of the Birds of Prey Downhill race bibs to the world’s top skiers and a double dose of fireworks.
“We encourage everyone to come out and participate in this special Thursday Night Lights,” Imhof added. “Join us for a few moonlight turns and celebrate the 2008 Audi Birds of Prey World Cup Race Week in Beaver Creek.”
The 2008 Audi Birds of Prey Race Week will include the Super Combined event on Thursday December 4, Downhill on Friday December 5, Super-G on Saturday December 6 and Giant Slalom on Sunday, December 7. All races get underway at 11 a.m., with the exception of Sunday’s Giant Slalom, with the first run scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. start.
The 2008 Audi Birds of Prey Race Week at Beaver Creek is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For more information on Birds of Prey, visit www.bcworldcup.com. For additional information on the Foundation, check out www.vvf.org.
