Birds of Prey | Directions to the Birds of Prey

SPECTATOR ACCESS & VIEWING:

All racing events are free and open to the public. The Birds of Prey racecourse has a mid-mountain finish area and, depending on snow conditions, can be accessed by shuttle bus service, with snowshoes, skis or snowboards. Concessions and restrooms are available at the Red Tail Finish Stadium.

PARKING & GETTING TO THE RED TAIL FINISH STADIUM:

Spectator parking is available in the complimentary parking lots (beginning with the Bear Lot) located at the base of Beaver Creek Resort. Regularly scheduled free shuttles will bring spectators to the Covered Bridge stop where special race shuttles will take you to the Red Tail Finish Stadium. Race shuttles run every 5-10 minutes from 5:30am to the completion of that day's race. Skis and snowboards are not permitted on the race shuttles.

From the shuttle drop location, there is a 5-10 minute hike to the Red Tail Finish Stadium. ADA access to the venue is available on request. Please allow one hour of travel time from the base of Beaver Creek Resort to the Red Tail Stadium in order to not miss any of the action!

PUBLIC TRANSIT FROM VAIL:

We encourage locals and visitors alike to utilize the existing ECO “Vail / Beaver Creek Express” bus system for travel to the World Cup Venue. On race days beginning at 8:00am busses will be departing from 4 main Vail bus stops (West Vail Conoco, Cascade Village, Lionshead, and the Vail Transportation Center). Busses will run approximately every 20 minutes during the busier morning and evening transport hours. After departing Vail, the route makes only one stop in Avon prior to finishing in Beaver Creek Village. This is an efficient way to get to the races and costs only $5.

SKI/SNOWBOARD ACCESS (DEPENDENT ON SNOW CONDITIONS):

Beginning at the top of Centennial Lift (#6), follow Red Tail run to the Birds of Prey course crossing. Follow the Birds of Prey course crossing to the south end of the Red Tail Finish Stadium and consult maps and signage for seating areas. Please note that this access is dependent on adequate snowfall and terrain openings. Most of the terrain to the finish area is intermediate and advanced.

SNOWSHOE ACCESS:

Spectators may snowshoe up the Beaver Lake Trail to the finish area. (About a 30-45 minute hike.) Beaver Lake Trail is located just west of Dally Road and can be accessed from Village Road, just after Beaver Creek Chapel. For a more scenic route, take Lost Buck Trail to Village-To-Village. (About a 75-90 minute hike.) Please note that snowshoers are not allowed on Dally Road because of bus traffic.
